There are 18 first-class Cricket counties, 17 in England and 1 in Wales. They compete in several different competitions throughout the season with the main one being the Vitality County Championship. In this tournament, there are two divisions, with two teams being promoted/relegated between them at the end of the season. Matches are typically 4-days long.
The most successful County Championship team are Yorkshire CCC with 33 titles, while at the other end of the spectrum Somerset CCC, Gloucestershire CCC and Northamptonshire CCC have never won the championship.
First-class County Cricket teams also participate in 1-day Cricket and twenty20 competitions that run concurrently throughout the season.
