Snapshot of La Liga

Spains 'La Liga' (the league) is made up of 20 teams. The teams are fairly evenly spread around Spain with clusters in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and the Basque Country. La Liga has been dominated by sporting giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, with the 3rd most successful team (Athletico Madrid) following some way behind. The last team to win La Liga outside of these three was Deportivo de La Coruña in 1970. Barcelona's Nou Camp is the largest football stadium in Europe with a capacity of 99,000, that's over five times larger than Getafe's Coliseum Alfonso Pérez which has a capacity of 17,000. The average match day attendance in La Liga is 27,000 which makes it the 3rd best-supported football league, after the German Bundersliga and the English Premier League.
