There are 30 MLB teams who are split evenly between the National League and the American League. The most successful team are the New York Yankees who have won 27 World Series, followed by the St. Louis Cardinals who have won the Commissioner's Trophy on 11 occasions. Success, however isn't evenly distributed throughout Baseball, and there are 5 teams who have never won the championship. Each team plays 162 regular season games during the MLB season - the highest number of any professional sports league. Despite there being 81 home fixtures the average attendance per game is 28,000 (approx) with the LA Dodgers having the highest average crowds at 46,000.
